Blackfoot

The chefs here are obsessed with pigs, which may make it sound like a strange place to go for a fish stew, but it comes with pork shoulder, clams, leeks and coriander (£12.50). Allegra McEvedy and Tom Ward were both previously at Leon, but this venture is more of a lingering-over-a-long-lunch spot than a quick salad place.

Perkin Reveller

It would be so easy for this restaurant, with its wide glass front looking straight on to Tower Bridge, to become a tourist trap. But the menu is full of seasonal British dishes. The hearty Cornish fish stew is to share and comes laced with saffron potatoes (£40 for two).

Rotorino

A collaboration between chef Stevie Parle from Dock Kitchen, wine expert Ruth Spivey and restaurateur Jonathan Downey, Rotorino focuses on southern Italian food. Try bottarga spaghetti, chickpea fritters, sea bream with wild fennel — or go for burrida, a fish and pasta stew with cod, clams, mussels and mullet (£17 for one or two people).
