Best for seasonal eating

The Manor

Banish all thoughts of cauliflower being boring or bland. Here it’s served with cacao, medjool dates and fermented milk kefir (£8.50). This is the sister restaurant to The Dairy in Clapham and you can either choose from the à la carte menu or go for the tasting menu at £42 for eight courses.

Best for beautiful interiors

Bags of character: cauliflower features throughout the menu at Blixen

Blixen

From the brains behind Bermondsey’s Garrison pub and Fitzrovia’s The Riding House Café, this new brasserie in Spitalfields Market has bags of character. Cauliflower is on the menu several times: as part of a starter salad with almonds, squash, romesco and Mimolette cheese (£6.50), or as a main with monkfish and lardons (£18).

Best for unusual ingredients

Portland

A clever and carefully cooked dish: cauliflower with thyme at Portland

The menu at this new opening, which changes daily, is packed with tempting treats such as pig’s head croquette with kimchi. The roasted cauliflower with thyme is a clever and carefully cooked dish. If that’s not available, I recommend the spring and winter veg with smoked egg emulsion (£14).
