A new trend of 'womanspreading' is sweeping through social media and its hashtag is gaining increasing momentum.
A rival to manspreading, the pose is designed to empower women and allow them to claim their space - a practice that has been encouraged and written about at length in feminist literature.
Women having been posing at work, at home, on the commute and even Hollywood is getting involved. Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski and Kaia Gerber are just some of the A-listers who've been flipping the bird to "ladylike" positions and taking up as much room as they feel like.
Admittedly, there's a lightheartedness to #womanspreading but none the less, women aren't just poking fun at manspreading. They're using the pose as a way to continue bucking tradition and make the point, once again, that gender conditioning simply shouldn't apply.
