Rita Ora vs Rihanna

Since Kosovo-born songstress Rita Ora arrived on the music scene last year, she has gained acclaim for two things: her strong — near impeccable — vocals and her likeness to Bajan pop princess Rihanna.

Hailed as London’s answer to the Talk That Talk star, Ora bears more than just a passing resemblance to RiRi, thanks to her fabulous approach to style. An affinity with skin-tight leather, acid-wash denim and revealing evening attire undoubtedly binds the two songbirds. In fact, from their penchant for navel-skimming gowns to beanie hat and high-tops, the pair have become increasingly difficult to tell apart.

However, these similarities are far from surprising. While both style plates have roots which are worlds apart, they share a position on Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation and sing from the same songsheet as far as musical genre is concerned — Ora even once covered one of Rihanna’s own songs. But rumours that the two harbour a fierce rivalry were quashed last week thanks to Ora, who tweeted a shot of Rihanna planting a kiss on her cheek following a party in the capital.

In a recent interview with MTV, the 21-year-old British star spoke of the similarities between herself and her doppelgänger. “I take it as a compliment,” she said. “The comparison is a great one. It’s not like it’s someone I’m not a fan of, so I’m happy to be compared to someone like that.” But will the two ever take to the stage together? “That video would be kinda hot,” added Ora.
