If the EU Referendum result has gotten you down, here’s something that may cheer you up: there’s a new dog breed you need to know about, and it’s absolutely adorable.

The Hungarian Pumi, which looks like a cross between a poodle and a terrier, has just become the 190th dog breed officially recognised by the American Kennel Club.

The breed has been around for a while, but has only just earned its stripes in the Kennel Club in the US after meeting strict population quota and geographic distribution criteria.

According to AKC, the Pumi is an energetic and lively breed originating in Hungary. The herding breed is already popular in Europe, but has only just started making an appearance in the US.

Now that the Pumi has been officially recognised as a breed by the AKC, these adorable masses of fluff will be able to compete in national dog shows.

You’re also likely to spot a hell of a lot more of them in the capital’s green spaces as word of the breed spreads across via social media.

So if you’re still pouring over Brexit explainers and commentary articles, take a breather from the economic and political chaos and admire some of the best pictures of these adorable living teddy bears on Instagram.
