This stunning timelapse footage shows the April's full moon, aka the Pink Moon rising over the city from the Barbican.

Artist James Burns shot the footage after he saw how gorgeous the moon was starting to look after sunset. The colourful hues of the sunset caught Burns' eye, prompting him to pull out his camera.

"April's full moon rose 15 minutes after sunset and it was shaping up so nicely that I started filming at 7:30pm to catch the changing light," he said. "After the last rays of direct light came a purple-tinged twilight before night fell."

The aerial photographer captured the footage over the course of two hours from a flat at the top of the Barbican's Lauderdale Tower. This moonrise was particularly special, since the patchy clouds created a standout image in the sky.

"It's always a more compelling spectacle when La Luna weaves an embracing dance with the clouds," Burns said.

Burns, who works under the name London from the Rooftop, posts pictures on his website, Instagram and Twitter pages.
