I’ve been inspired by Pharrell and want to get a hat. What would you advise?
Pharrell Williams’ eight-inch Buffalo hat (Vivienne Westwood, £95) has stolen the limelight this awards season. The original even has its own Twitter account. But do not try this at home. ‘If you’re under 30, stick to pork pie hats, which can be worn casually,’ advises designer and mad hatter Bayode Oduwole (pokit.co.uk). ‘Over 30, go to Lock & Co on St James’s Street for a trilby or Borsalino [at Harrods] for a fedora, worn with a smart overcoat. Opt for brown; black is too formal.’ Disclaimer: if you get called something rude rhyming with hat, on your head be it.
