You’d have to have been hiding under a rock to have missed the Mannequin Challenge - a social media craze that calls on its participants to pose like they’re frozen in time.

While most of the internet’s attempts involve sitting or standing in a static pose, a group of fitness gurus have taken the trend one step further - posing their toned limbs in all manner of impressively acrobatic positions.

Among those featured in the video include a woman frozen with one leg in the air, another upside-down in a handstand and a man lifting two women on weights.

The video, which gives the viewer the impression of walking around a paused shot of a busy gym, also features fitness coaches pulling easier poses - such as taking a selfie or pretending to drink from a bottle of water.

The one minute clip choreographed by online fitness star Bradley Martyn has taken Facebook by storm, racking up more than 20 million times views.

The Mannequin Challenge trend is believed to have been started by students in Jacksonville, Florida, but grew in popularity after Adele, Destiny’s Child and First Lady Michelle Obama jumped on the bandwagon.

But Bradley claimed his take on the trend is the best yet, describing it as 'the best mannequin challenge period'.

'You guys have seen it floating around the internet, the mannequin challenge...We're doing that today,' he said in a behind-the-scenes YouTube video.

Participants, who included models, fitness coaches and actresses, said the most difficult elements of filming the challenge were keeping balanced while the camera panned around them.
