Dance like RiRi: Seen on Screen classes
Rosamund Urwin18 June 2014

“Dance like nobody’s watching,” advised some guy you’ve never heard of, and then far too many greetings cards. But wouldn’t you rather dance like everybody’s watching, as though you’re Beyoncé circa 2011, spinning around the stage at Glastonbury in front of a chanting crowd? Here are London’s five best classes where you can emulate your dancing idol.

Beyoncé workshop at Frame

Want to be Queen Bey? Frame can’t give you her brains, beauty or booty, but its instructors will have you doing the “Put a Ring On It” sashay and the diva hair flick at their two-hour Beyoncé bootcamps.

27 Beethoven Street, W10, 020 8960 4849, moveyourframe.com, next class: Saturday, 2:30pm

Seen on Screen

SOS runs classes at venues across the capital where you can channel Britney, Shakira and Ciara. A colleague recommends the “AMAZING” (her caps) Rihanna class.

Michael Jackson at Pineapple Studios

This class is sold as the “baddest dance workout around”, a combination of modern jazz, pop and street dance.

7 Langley Street, WC2, 020 7836 4004, pineapple.uk.com

Back up Dancer at GymBox

These popular classes — weekly at the Covent Garden, Farringdon, Holborn and Westfield Gymbox branches — focus on simple routines, so even dance novices should be able to learn some new moves for Saturday night.

K-Pop Dance Classes

If you want to expand your Korean pop move repertoire beyond Psy’s Gangnam Style, these are the classes for you. You learn all the choreography in a music video over four to five weeks.

Weekly at Soho Gyms, 12 Macklin Street, WC2 and Fitness First, Fenchurch Street, EC3
