Is Gwyneth Paltrow giving Goop the ‘Archetypes’ treatment? This week the actress turned wellness mogul revealed plans to turn her multi-million dollar lifestyle brand into a four part podcast series, dropping early next year.

The podcast, entitled “The Goop Pursuit” will focus around four “overarching” topics: pleasure and sex, finding beauty, navigating life changes, and healing in a “sick” society, according to Paltrow, who spoke to Vanity Fair about the upcoming series.

“We’re curious about so many different topics at Goop,” the Oscar-winner told Vanity Fair, “and we get to explore a lot of them in some form, whether that’s via a researched article on our site, an interview with an expert on The Goop Podcast, a live conversation at one of our wellness summits, our TV series, or a Goop press book.

“But these were four overarching topics—pleasure and sex, finding beauty, how we navigate major life changes, how we begin to heal in a sick society—that we were interested in delving deeper into. And we wanted to explore them through narrative and through the power of true storytelling.”

The four-part series will feature Paltrow in extensive discussion with experts in these fields, which all sounds quite documentary-esque. But really, it’s a lot more Meghan Markle than Louis Theroux.

Paltrow promises listeners a “stand-alone and intimate narrative experience” - which all sounds very similar to the Los Angeles wellness jargon frequently peppered throughout Markle’s Archetypes podcast, where the former royal interviews a celebrity per episode about the negative labels attached to them by society.

Instead of actresses and singers, Gwyneth Paltrow will instead be interviewing “innovators”. In the episode entitled “Leaning into Pleasure”, for example, she interviews Penda N’diaye, the founder of Pro Hoe, a brand focused on sexual liberation in Black and brown communities. The 90-minute “multigenerational” discussion on pleasure will examine how it is experienced, what hinders it, and how our desires can be fully expressed in a society full of taboos.

The other episodes have their own respective innovators, too. In “Healing in a Sick Society”, Paltrow speaks to Dr Will Siu MD, a New York based psychiatrist who also engages in “psychedelic-assisted” treatments, i.e ayahuasca trips.

In “Finding Beauty”, Paltrow’s guest is LGBTQAI activist and author of The Bold World, Jodie Patterson. And in “Coming Home to Yourself,” which will cover navigating those major life changes mentioned earlier, the interviewee is Dr. Thema S. Bryant, PhD, who is a clinical psychologist and president-elect of the American Psychological Association.

The series is set to launch early next year, on January 13, 2023. It is the latest addition to Goop’s hugely successful repertoire: launched as an e-commerce brand in 2014 to much derision, the company is now worth an estimated $250 million.

After all, it seems every celebrity in the world has to have either a podcast or a beauty and wellness brand right now, so it seems only fitting that Paltrow now has both.
