While many of us are packing away the swimwear and rediscovering our layers at the end of yet another fleeting British summer, New York has this week played host to a number of women who are set to spend the next three months wearing the bare minimum.

Victoria's Secret has kicked off its rigorous casting process for the highly-anticipated fashion show, as models vied for a place on the iconic December runway.

Positioned outside the lingerie giant's New York headquarters, paparazzi captured this year's runway hopefuls as they made their way to their catwalk audition.

Lily Donaldson, Shanina Shaik, Hilary Rhoda and Hailey Baldwin are among the models having been spotted making their way to what is one of the fashion world's most cut-throat interviews.

And while a number of those attending have previously walked for the brand, there is no guarantee that VS alumni - other than the angels - have an automatic spot on the following year's runway.

Explaining the process, Devon Windsor - who has walked every year since 2013 - told her Twitter followers that "nearly every girl who is not a contracted angel has to do the casting".

Yet to be spotted, but presumed to be returning to the runway this year, are Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid.

Having first walked for the brand in 2015, Kendall and Gigi were joined in 2016 by Bella who made her Victoria's Secret Fashion Show debut in Paris last year.
