Champagne, cocktails, celebrities and shepherd's pie: just another night at the Ivy.

Except, for the first time, the restaurant was shut for a private party that celebrated 25 years of London Fashion Week.

The event highlighted the growing confidence that London Fashion Week is a major global event.

Hosted by Topshop boss Sir Philip Green, it included the great and good of fashion in Britain and on the other side of the Atlantic.

The presence of American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour underlined the worldwide reach of the British fashion scene. Models, including Kate Moss, Lily Donaldson, Lara Stone, Eva Herzigova and Naomi Campbell, joined photographers David Bailey and Tim Walker and designers Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Bailey, Zandra Rhodes and Erdem Moralioglu.

Entertainment was provided by Bryan Ferry. Sir Philip praised Burberry and Matthew Williamson for returning to London, saying: "We must support the incredible talent that is the British fashion industry, the second largest employer in our country."
