Prada is collaborating with Sotheby’s to auction the garments and props used to stage its autumn/winter men’s and women’s 2020 shows, which were held in January and February.

The first-of-its-kind auction will include unique garments worn by the models, photographic prints, show invitations and runway props and all money raised will be donated to UNESCO's various educational projects.

The move is the latest in a series of initiatives supporting the charity. Back in February the Italian fashion house partnered with UNESCO on an educational programme for young people worldwide to encourage more responsible attitudes towards the ocean.

The partnership comes as part of Prada's wider sustainability agenda, which last summer saw the brand re-make its iconic nylon bags from recycled ocean plastic (with a commitment to ruling out all virgin plastic across the business by 2021) and in November last year become the first fashion brand ever to sign a sustainability deal.

Miuccia Prada said after the Milan Fashion Week show in February: "I am always interested in the cliche of femininity and the contrasts between that which is perceived to be."

The auction will launch on October 2, with a small number of items being unveiled on Sotheby’s website from July 20.
