The Coronation commotion has begun.

Today, a number of outings have drawn the public eye: The Waleses headed to the Realm Governors General and Prime Ministers Lunch, alongside King Charles III, where the Princess of Wales looked restricted but respectful in a plain white dress custom made by Jenny Packham, and complete with long sleeves and a black wasitband. She paired it with Aquazzura black high heels, worth £620, as the couple headed for a walk about outside Buckingham Palace, greeting keen royal fans.

But it was at No.10 where a riot of colour erupted. Jill Biden, First Lady of The United States of America, who will be representing the country at the Coronation without President Joe Biden, was greeted by UK Prime Minister’s wife Akshata Murty - and opted for raging hot pink to do so.

Biden paired a just-over-the-knee pink dress with ribbon bow waistband with a coordinating, button-up coat for the occasion, and finished her look with pearl earrings, pearl and gold bracelets, and a particularly special pair of £870 Dior floral patterned slingback kitten heels. Biden is a longtime fan of Dior’s high heel offering, and was seen wearing similar branded slingbacks during her husband’s 2020 campaign rallies.

By her side braving London’s stormy weather was Murty, who looked smart-if-safe in a silk printed blue and white floral gown with contrast checkerboard sleeves and skirt hem. The Prime Minister’s wife, who has attracted media attention for her penchant for designer labels (including dropping her children at school wearing £570 JW Anderson chain loafers) was likely being careful to keep obvious luxury branding to a minimum.

Murty was also introduced to one of Biden’s granddaughters Finnegan, who looked sophisticated in a navy suit with nude high heels.

It comes as excitement builds across the capital for tomorrow’s Coronation of Charles III, where the hotly anticipated ceremony will begin at Westminster Abbey at 11am.
