Here come the girls: it's all fake tan and fascinators for Ladies Day at Aintree

Short skirts, teetering heels and hot pink were the order of the day at the Grand National Festival

The ladies are out in full force as the Grand National Festival kicks off at Aintree, where no tan is too orange, no heels too high and no fascinator too large.

Despite the cold weather, short skirts and bare legs were out in full force and, while some racegoers looked effortlessly elegant in their fancy frocks, others took frills, pink and bling just a step too far.

Some of our fashion-challenged fillies seemed to have found inspiration watching the Only Way is Essex and My Big Fat Gipsy wedding and were definitely doing Liverpool proud in the brightest, most flamboyant outfits they could muster.

With a 30,000 strong crowd, we had plenty of sartorial slip ups to choose from to bring you the biggest style mistakes from race-day. But at least they're having fun.
