While Tom Hiddleston's lonesome appearance post-Taylor Swift snubbing may have garnered the majority of eagle eyes on the Emmy Awards red carpet last night, the fashion conscious saved their attention for the gowns.

Stepping out in a sheer grey mid-length dress by Zac Posen scattered with mozaic-inspired white flecks was Olivia Culpo, who paired the gown with understated silver sandals and a box-clutch.

Another actress who plumped for the American fashion designer was Emily Ratajkowski, whose gown had a sleeker silhouette.

A navy silk dress with a fishtail flared skirt, Ratajkowski's gown had a bold structured element at the decolitage adding drama to the otherwise elegant look.

Others who impressed in the style stakes were Downton Abbey stars Michelle Dockery in Oscar de la Renta, Joanne Froggatt wearing Stella McCartney and Laura Carmichael in Delpozo, as well as Emilia Clarke in Atelier Versace, Kirsten Dunst in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci Haute Couture and Sophie Turner in Valentino.
