Duchess of Cambridge style file: we chart Kate Middleton's year of fashion

Charlie Teather8 February 2016

Since first appearing on the arm of Prince William back in 2004, The Duchess of Cambridge's has consistently found her own style under close scrutiny.

Moving on from her preppy look at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, Kate is now quite the trailblazer.

After wearing a deep, appropriately-royal blue dress with a clinched-in waist by London-based label Issa to officially announce her engagement to Prince William, the dress flew off the shelves - only to be re-stocked and similarly popular five years later.

A regular and loyal client of Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton designs - the latter of which she wore for her wedding to the Prince - Kate has a number of high-end designers desperate to create a gown to be worn by her.
