For dancing queens on the lookout for their next Saturday night outfit, Ashish provided a suitably spellbinding selection at London Fashion Week yesterday.

In a star studded collection in which witches and goths came out of the shadows to take a turn in the spotlight, Ashish Gupta delivered a showcase which looked certain to delight the capital's most dedicated magpies and night owls.

Renowned for his love of sparkles and sequins, the Indian designer presented shimmering lace dresses in a palette of blood red, virginal white and jet black.

Models stalked the catwalk barefoot, gliding around suspended mirror balls which hovered inches above the ground.

They wore sequinned t-shirts and suit jackets emblazoned with the words "Good mourning" and "A heart is a heavy burden", along with spinning tinsel headdresses.

The brand, which enjoys a cult following amongst the capital's most outlandish dressers, also unveiled sequin-strewn tracksuits and rhinestone-encrusted jeans.

For Ashish Gupta, who emigrated from Delhi to London in 1996, the words of Martin Luther King, Jr. provided the inspiration for this collection; "Only in the darkness can you see the stars."
