Down the cakehole: Feastivals

Eat to the beat: Jamie Oliver's first Big Feastival in Clapham Common combines dishes from top chefs with music acts
10 April 2012

Festivals tend to be about music but this summer it's about what you eat while you're listening to it.

As bigger country festivals including last week's Glastonbury, Green Man, Big Chill and Bestival have gone from tunes and bog standard burgers to songs and gourmet grub, others are getting menus out first and music later.

This weekend is Jamie Oliver's first Big Feastival in Clapham Common, a combination of dishes from top chefs (think Theo Randall, Thomasina Miers and Jamie) alongside acts such as The Mystery Jets and the Guillemots (£35,jamieoliver.com).

In August, Skye Gyngell of Richmond's Petersham Nurseries Café hosts gourmet banquets as Laura Marling sings out (wildernessfestival.com) at Oxfordshire's Wilderness Festival, while at Harvest at Jimmy's in September, Richard Corrigan and Yotam Ottolenghi will cook as Eliza Doolittle takes to the stage (harvestatjimmys.com).
