Down the cakehole: Bhangra burger

10 April 2012

If you haven't heard of them, you soon will. The Bhangra Burger has hit London and from tonight until Sunday you can pick one up from a Union Jack-covered van outside the Real Food Festival at Earl's Court.

Created in Brixton by Alex Owen, Bhangra Burgers are Indian-spiced burgers served as wraps in flatbread and covered in homemade chutneys, pickles and salads. There is the spicy meat-heavy lamb jalfrezi burger plus Owen's new veggie options, hot off his trip to Pushka in India earlier this year.

Try a chana veggie masala - a chickpea and polenta combo with mango chutney and tangy mixed pickle.

Or the paneer saag, an Indian cottage cheese and spinach patty served with a mint and coriander breadcrumb mix.

£6.00, bhangraburger.com. Festival tickets from realfoodfestival.co.uk
