This week saw celebrities, designers, models, fashionistas and fans descend upon New York City For Vogue’s 3rd Annual Forces of Fashion Summit, which aims to bring the Vogue brand to the chicly coiffed masses (provided you’re willing to fork over the price of the ticket).

Over the last two days at Spring Studios in Manhattan, the summit saw panelists ranging from Julianne Moore and Cardi B (who is just as amazing as her online persona would lead you to believe) to designers like Tom Ford, Tory Burch, Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera, Olivier Rousteing of Balmain and Donatella Versace. Fashion favorites, including Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber, were also onhand to dispense advice.

Each of the panels addressed the theme of where the fashion industry is currently, and where each of these experts believes it's going in the future.

There was a lot of talk about sustainability, diversity, and inclusivity, which are definitely buzzwords these days, but there was actually a refreshing amount of candor and optimism on display by the panelists when these were broached.

The fashion industry has a reputation for being closed off and exclusive, which made this openness all the more surprising, but in no way unwelcome

The space was made to look like Vogue’s offices, which are merely a few blocks away at One World Trade Center - a familiar scene for anyone who has seen The Devil Wears Prada.

Standout moments included the genuine banter between Julianne Moore and Tom Ford, as well as the joyful surprise of seeing family vacation photos from Anna Wintour and Donatella Versace and their kids from 20 years ago.

Versace and Wintour discussed politics, the future of fashion and young talent. Versace even took the stage to Lady Gaga's song Donatella, starting the conversation off with a bang.

“The world in general, not just America is going through a difficult time. When someone looks back and not ahead, that is a mistake - especially in politics” Versace said about the current political climate. She also told the crowd that she was a big fan of Mayor Pete from Indiana because "he talks about inclusivity and has a fresh perspective for an open minded America.”

But the best moment might have been courtesy of Cardi B, when she casually mentioned that What Dreams are Made Of from The Lizzie McGuire Movie, proved that she's our millennial queen - and entirely authentic, whether she's front row at Paris Fashion Week or chatting with Anna Wintour.
