Kelly Clarkson just served Taylor Swift some advice regarding the Scooter Braun feud and the acquisition of the masters to her first six albums.

For anyone who isn’t fully aware of the very public drama going on between Scooter Braun and Taylor Swift, here’s a breakdown of how and why the drama unfolded.

In short, Scooter Braun purchased the record label Big Machine, which owns the rights to Taylor Swift’s first six albums. Braun and Swift have previous beef since he was allegedly involved in Kanye West’s song “Famous” – the song where West famously claims, “I feel like Taylor Swift still owe me sex / Why? I made that b**ch famous”).

With the purchase of Big Machine, the future profits from any of Swift’s first six albums lie in Braun’s hands, which is obviously not something Swift wants.

Though a source did tell Page Six that Swift tried to buy back her masters several times, the pop star was allegedly unsuccessful. “It was a s **tty deal. She tried to buy it multiple times, but they wouldn’t let her cut a check like Scooter,” the source said.

Swift's Lawyer, Donald Passman, issued a statement that said, “[Big Machine CEO] Scott Borchetta never gave Taylor Swift an opportunity to purchase her masters, or the label, outright with a check in the way he is now apparently doing for others.”

Now singer Kelly Clarkson has offered Swift a solution. “@taylorswift13 just a thought" she tweeted to the singer, "U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions. I’d buy all of the new versions just to prove a point.”

However, a source previously revealed to Page Six that since Swift has a new deal with Universal Music Group, that deal most likely says she can’t re-record her old stuff.

Though Swift has a group of A-list supporters backing her up – reportedly including her past nemesis Katy Perry – some aren’t quite as supportive.

“Everyone knows she’s playing the victim. She has five homes, a private jet. She even summons her boyfriend [UK actor Joe Alwyn],” an insider told Page Six. “She sends a jet to London to pick him up and bring him to her when she needs him.”

Regardless of Swift’s immense wealth, this musicians’ feud turned public political controversy is drawing lines in the industry – though clearly Kelly Clarkson stands with Taylor Swift.
