Actress Scarlett Johansson has revealed her “extreme anxiety” over keeping the plot of the new Avengers movie secret.

The actress, who reprises her role as the Black Widow in Endgame, said she was “counting down the days” until the film’s release so she could finally talk about it.

She told A List: “It’s been extremely stressful, I have a lot of anxiety about it. I will be celebrating not only the premiere of the Avengers but the fact that I can actually not have to keep these crazy secrets any more. I can’t take it.”

She added: “Mark Ruffalo [who plays the Hulk] is the worst, he’s embarrassingly bad. I think they have got him under control now, but he’s a security risk for sure.” Avengers: Endgame is the latest instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, which began in 2008 with the first Iron Man film.

Box office analysts have predicted it could bring in a record-breaking $800 million over its first weekend. Its predecessor, Avengers: Infinity War, made a record $640.5 million.

Johansson, 34, first played the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 in 2010. She said her final day of shooting was surprisingly “anticlimactic”.

“We had a lot of false endings,” she said. “We wrapped Infinity War, then we were doing Endgame, then it was the first part of Endgame.

“By the last day ... I thought I was going [to have] some kind of, ‘Wow this is great year of filming’ [moment] ... and everyone was like, ‘All right, see you on the plane’.

“I’m still waiting for my send off but it’s not going to happen.”

Johansson was speaking at a fan event for the film at Picturehouse Central in Piccadilly last night with co-stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man).
