While most award ceremonies have been postponed, canceled or are taking place virtually, the MTV Video Music Awards are still happening in person this year, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced during his Monday press briefing that the ceremony will be held in Brooklyn.

He said: "The Video Music Awards are going to be held Sunday, August 30, at Barclays Center."

He also displayed one of his now famous slides which stressed "the event will follow all safety guidance, including limited or no audience."

MTV previously told Billboard it was "exploring with government officials, the medical community, and key stakeholders on how to safely hold the 2020 VMAs at Barclays Center."

The last time the VMAs took place in Brooklyn was in 2013. Last year's VMAs included performances by Missy Elliott, Lizzo, Normani and many more.
