Lady Gaga has revealed that she accidentally “shanked” Ariana Grande with her nail while rehearsing for their Rain on Me music video. Grande, who shared a picture of the long scratch below her eye on her Instagram Stories, joked in a video that she hoped it scarred and said it was an “honour” to be scratched by the pop diva.

Lady Gaga has been posting behind-the-scenes videos of her and Grande’s collaboration to Instagram and in a recent one, she was seen chasing after Grande with medical ointment following the accident. As Grande screamed at her “no” and said she “[hoped] it scars” as Lady Gaga insisted on applying it.

Speaking to a member of her production team, Lady Gaga said in the video, “Richard, I shanked her with my nail by accident, dancing.”

Grande responded, “Lady Gaga scratched my eye. It's an honour. I hope it scars. I hope it stays there forever.”

As Grande lay on the floor inspecting the scar on her phone’s camera, she said, “I feel like I was in an action movie.”

The pair’s close friendship was on full display in the video, as Grande teased Lady Gaga over the scratch - prompting Gaga to tell her she was “not going to let” the scratch scar, despite Grande’s wishes. Gaga later requested Neosporin, an antibacterial cream popular in America, from another team member and was later seen pinning Grande to the ground as she tried to apply it to the scratch.

“You have a scratch on your face! You can't get infected before the video! Please let me put some Neosporin on it!” Gaga shouted at her.

As Gaga told Grande to “listen to your mom”, Grande retaliated, “You’re two days older than me,”

Grande then escaped from her hold and darted towards a door in sky high heels as Gaga followed behind her. The Seven Rings singer revealed the incident took place in February on her Instagram Stories, sharing a picture of the scratch as well as her striking makeup from the music video.
