For Kim Kardashian-West’s 39th birthday, husband Kanye West gifted his wife with the ultimate philanthropic present - which was ideal, as it must be hard to get something for the woman who has everything.

The reality TV star took to Twitter to let her fans know that her husband had donated $1 million in her name to her favorite prison reform charities.

The tweet included a photo of a certificate West made that contained details about the donations he had made in his wife’s name. The charities that West donated to were Cut 50, the Buried Alive Project, Equal Justice Initiative and the Anti-Recidivism Coalition.

Kardashian-West has been on the forefront of the prison reform movement since May 2018 when she met with President Donald Trump about Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for a first-time non-violent drug offence.

Johnson was sentenced to life in prison in 1997 because of cocaine-trafficking related crimes. The great-grandmother was released from prison, largely due to Kardashian-West’s work, in June of 2018.

After working with Trump to get Johnson out of prison, Kardashian-West set out to help another inmate whose prison term she deemed unfair. This time, her focus was on a man named Chris Young who was jailed without parole in 2010 due to a drug conspiracy case.

Along with helping to free Johnson from prison, Kardashian-West also was given the opportunity to give a speech on criminal justice reform at The White House.

In June of this year, the SKIMS founder took the stage with President Trump to share that they had launched a new partnership with rideshare companies where ex-prisoners are given gift cards so that they can travel to and from interviews.
