A new Meghan and Harry biography Finding Freedom has revealed how close Prince Harry and his cousin Princess Eugenie are.

The book, authored by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, says the pair are the ‘closest of friends’ and even used to go on double dates - after which Eugenie reportedly described Meghan as “just the tonic” for her cousin Harry.

The pair, who grew up together and would occasionally go on family holidays, are said to have ‘one of the most natural connections’ due to their similar personalities.

The book notes that Princess Eugenie introduced Prince Harry to his ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas and describes how the cousins used to party together at London clubs Mahiki and Tonteira. (Princess Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbank is a former manager of Mahiki.)

It also claims Harry regularly goes to Princess Eugenie for relationship advice and told Eugenie early on about his relationship with Meghan. Double dates included a Halloween party at Toronto’s Soho House where Meghan and Harry wore Venetian masks to disguise their identities.

Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank continued to be a fixture in the couple’s lives even after they were married, as they joined Meghan and Harry for a lavish holiday hosted at George and Amal Clooney’s Lake Como villa. It was also claimed they had made regular visits to Frogmore Cottage to see the Sussexes and their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

That said, tensions are said to have arisen during Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank's 2018 wedding where the book claims family members ‘found out about [Meghan’s] pregnancy’.

According to the book, Princess Eugenie ‘felt the couple should have waited to share the news.’

Finding Freedom is available in bookstores and online today.
