Fyre Festival documentary: Breakout star Andy King is getting his own reality TV show

'The barrage of memes notwithstanding, I’ve been granted an opportunity that’s impossible to pass up'

After the Fyre Festival documentary, one true celebrity emerged - and no, it wasn’t rapper Ja Rule of 'I'm Real' fame or scheming founder Billy McFarland, who is reportedly still cooking up schemes in jail.

Instead, the star of the show was Andy King, the gentleman who proudly announced that he was willing to do “whatever it took” and specifically “ready to suck d***” if necessary to make sure Fyre Fest-goers received water at the failed Bahamas music festival.

Once King uttered his now famous line, he instantly went viral (obviously). Memes galore emerged, declaring him the most entertaining interviewee of the Netflix documentary. Ironically, before the doc came out he didn't know what a meme was, according to a later Netflix interview.

And his fifteen minutes aren't over yet. According to Deadline, he's going to have his very own TV project after signing a deal with Spoke Studios.

Before the documentary came out, King was working as a high-profile event producer with celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio and The Rolling Stones. He also helped out with the launch party for the world’s largest ferris wheel in Las Vegas - so Fyre wasn’t his first festival.

Post-Fyre, he went on to set up a GoFundMe for the festival's caterer, who lost thousands of dollars when she wasn't paid back for her hard work and for providing the food.

“No one was more surprised than I was that a documentary spotlighting my only professional strike-out would result in an unbelievable outpouring of love and support, and overwhelming amount of interest and offers. I’ve had a long, successful career as an event producer, and took an extraordinary leap of faith sharing openly and honestly my unique personal experience on Fyre Fest, and the phone has been ringing off the hook ever since,” King said. “The barrage of memes notwithstanding, I’ve been granted an opportunity that’s impossible to pass up.”

Get ready for a whole slew of new memes.
