HOW TO MAKE YOUR HAIR COLOUR SHINE

by Jo Hansford

If you are investing in hair colour, aftercare is essential. Use a specialist range such as Jo Hansford Colour Care, which is designed for all hair types and contains ingredients, including sunflower extract and nut oil, that prolong the life of colour.

Rinse your hair thoroughly when you wash it to stop it looking dull and flat. Finish with a cold rinse, which will seal in the shine, leaving your colour looking fresh.

Rough-dry hair with a medium heat to take the wet out of the hair before styling, so you do not burn your hair. Using a hairdryer that is too hot can cause coloured hair to singe, making it weak and therefore more prone to frizz and broken ends.

Avoid exposing your hair to the sun, sea or chemicals such as chlorine. This can affect not only the colour but also the texture and smell of your hair. When in the sun, keep your hair covered with a large hat and use the Kérastase Soleil range to protect your hair.

NATURA BISSE LUMINOUS VITAMIN C RITUAL AT THE HEALTH CLUB AT ONE ALDWYCH

The promise A multi-sensory combination of full-body massage and exfoliation, plus a 'luminous C' anti-ageing facial.

The process After weeks of biting winter cold and no sign of sunshine, I liked the sound of the Luminous Vitamin C Ritual at boutique hotel One Aldwych. On arrival I was escorted to a small, restful treatment room with silk panels and soft lighting, where I relaxed on the heated bed. Using Natura Bissè products, my superb therapist Lauren treated me to a gentle body scrub and massage using a zesty vitamin C cream that soothed my tired back and shoulders. The indulgent facial was unhurried; a mild glycolic peel removed dead skin before the rich citrus vitamin cream was softly massaged into my skin. A light head and neck massage was the finishing touch.

The verdict After an hour and a half of pampering I felt rejuvenated. My skin looked refreshed and nourished and its tone and condition improved over the next few days.
