It's been announced this morning that British high street stalwart River Island has inked a seven-year deal to create cosmetics and fragrances.

The deal has been signed with KMI Brands, the cosmetics supplier behind the best-selling Ted Baker beauty line.

This marks the first time River Island will have released its own in-house range of branded cosmetics.

KMI Brands will also distribute River Island fragrance outside of its retail stores and into wholesale, another first for the high street chain.

Commenting on the news, brand director at KMI Brands, Claire Green said: “Discovering the heritage of the River Island brand has been a joy. The brand is renowned for stylish, accessible and inclusive fashion and translating this to a dynamic beauty category with experience and purpose at its core is an exciting opportunity to develop further."

River Island was established in London by Bernard Lewis and his brothers in 1948.
