BarChick: The Lucky Pig

Vintage charm: antique furniture, old telephones and Singer sewing machines give the Lucky Pig bar a late 19th century look
10 April 2012

Take: Your work mates for late-night mischief.

Vibe: If you like the idea of a visit to a Chinese opium den in 1870s San Francisco, this is about as close as you'll get in Fitzrovia this century. Crumbling walls decorated with Chinese parasols, shelves of Singer sewing machines, vintage trunks, old telephones, and other knick-knacks - you'll think you've stepped off a steamer into the 19th century.

Best drink(s): Hide away in one of the red velvet curtained caves and drink your way through the classics, or try one of their champagne cocktails served in vintage coupés (Barchick loved the Cherry Blossom). They don't do food but unless you're throwing a party eating is usually cheating, right?

Cash or credit card: Cocktails are £8 so if you are dropping by take cash but if you are settling in for the night then card is a must.

Find it: Monday-Saturday 3pm-late. 5 Clipstone Street, W1 (020 7436 0035, theluckypig.co.uk)
