Who's it for?

Vibe? If BarChick were picking drinking teams then Jake Burger would be first choice. This guy is a bar wizard and has won enough competitions to prove it. He has also nailed it at the Portobello Star by turning this old Notting Hill pub into a classic cocktail tavern. There is always music playing - plenty of old-school classics - and there's a DJ at weekends.

Best drink(s)? They're all good, but we loved Tommy's Margharita and the Sally Cinnamon. The PS We Love You is epic, served with a swinging lampshade as well. For Carnival, the Star claims to have the best rum bar with rum punch, Guinness punch and mojitos - I wouldn't put it past them.

Crowd? Seriously hot - you never know who'll be there when you go. Occasionally it's quiet, but more often than not it's kicking off.

Cash or card? Cash, but a card is wiser if you end up staying all night like we did.
