Back the beanie... this winter's hottest hat choice

Last winter, a menagerie of animals served as the inspiration for the most popular headgear styles. But this December the novelty has worn off and hats have gone back to basics. Once saved for snowball-hurling schoolboys, the humble beanie is this winter's hottest hat choice.

At the opening of Somerset House's annual ice rink, models of the moment Dudley O'Shaughnessy, Tolula Adeyemi and Cara Delevingne chose pared-down beanies to shield their heads from the cold. Other fans of the beanie include Laura Bailey, who favours a dusty pink tea-cosy style, and Jessie J - previously an ambassador of the aforementioned mammal-themed hat - who was spotted keeping cosy in a chic marl grey version. So ditch the fluff and fuss and get reunited with a hat that's dedicated to doing what bonnets do best: keeping your noggin toasty.
