Are tattoos a turn-on or a turn-off?

Tattooed lady: Michelle "Bombshell" McGee is alleged to have been having an affair with Sandra Bullock’s husband
10 April 2012

If there's one thing we know about Sandra Bullock's husband, Jesse James, it's that he is clearly a fan of tattoos. Not only is his ex-wife coated in them but now we discover that he is alleged to have been having an affair with 24-year-old model Michelle McGee, who has tattoos all over her body. But who would Londoners prefer? McGee and her body art or his un-inked wife Sandra? I went to Hackney to find out whether Londoners think tattoos are a turn-on or a turn-off.

Turn-off
Ben, 27, researcher

In men's minds a tattoo on the lower back screams loose woman. I was watching Babestation the other day and this girl had loads of tattoos. They just made her look dirty.

Georgina, 32, designer

When I was a teenager I really wanted to be a tattooist and body piercer. I never actually got a tattoo myself, though, because I couldn't find anything that I thought I would like for ever.

Turn-off
Aaron, 30, student

The last girl I was with had one of those faux-tribal tattoos between her shoulder blades. I really didn't like it. Having some faux tribal rubbish printed on you says a lot about your character.

Christoph, 29, marketing

It really depends on the woman. If the woman is sexy, then the tattoo could enhance it, much like Angelina Jolie. But tattooed women aren't wife material.

Turn-on
Rachel, 22, teacher

I think guys with tattoos are really hot although the guys I've been with who have had them have always said they really regret them. One or two is sexy but a body covered in them isn't.

Neither
James, 33, consultant

I have one and I don't know if it turns people on. It's not meant to turn me on. I didn't get it to work for a particular reason, but it's for me, not for anyone else.

Turn-on
Freddie, 26, restaurant manager

But if you have a tattoo it should be about you and not on display to anyone except the people you sleep with. That's what's sexy.

Turn-on
Matthew, 27, broker

Tattoos are a bull's-eye. They're a target for sex. I always think that a tattoo is an indication that someone is up for it.
