If you were to wear only one bit of colour make-up all summer, Daniel Sandler’s Watercolour Liquid Blush would be a savvy choice.
Natural make-up tends to be about beiges and browns to conceal and perfect. But we shouldn’t forget that the enchanting effect of well-executed natural make-up doesn’t come in the form of flesh tones, tasteful tea-coloured eye shadows and barely there bronzers. No, the poetry of natural make-up is in the bloom of a cheek. The blush. A heightened colour links to heightened emotion, heightened engagement, heightened feeling.
These magical bottles (yes, blusher in a bottle) contain a silky smooth formula that’s dewy and subtle. It’s been around nearly 15 years, but it has been recently refined and is ultra-natural and ultra-flattering. Shades vary from pale peach to juicy raspberry, both matte and slightly shimmering.
Super-loose and ‘watery’ in texture, the blush is nicely malleable and buildable but, when it sets, it’s not going anywhere. Combine any number of shades for apple-cheeked rosiness, delicate highlighting and classy sculpting. Sandler sells samples for £2, so you can experiment and play.
Tip: if you are a bit flushy or have a touch of rosacea, pick peachier tones and avoid pinks as they can make you look ruddy rather than romantic.
