Woman cleared in 'voodoo slave' case

13 April 2012

A woman wept today after she was cleared of keeping a teenager as a voodoo sex slave in her flat.

The 18-year-old claimed she was made to have sex with three men and was beaten by Negi Dule, 37.

She said she was afraid to run away because she feared harm would come to her through voodoo.

"I thought she would put a curse on me," the teenager told the Old Bailey.
But Dule told the court: "All these allegations against me are total lies."

She said the girl, who was an acquaintance of her sister, had only stayed a weekend and had arrived with a battered face.

Dule, of Stepney, east London, was found not guilty of false imprisonment, procuring a girl, assault and two offences of theft.

Her sister is missing and faces a trial over the allegations, the court was told.
