A 54-year-old woman has been charged with fraud after obtaining a free flight to New York by falsely claiming her brother was a fire fighter missing in the World Trade Center.

Olabisi Iyabo Buraimoh of Hackney was bailed to appear before Horseferry Road Magistrates Court on Friday after she was charged with obtaining services by deception.

She was also charged with causing a public nuisance for reporting her brother Aladi Ayrio missing. Mrs Buraimoh allegedly flew to New York on a free flight provided by the Foreign Office.

Since the terrorist attacks on America 250 relatives of missing Britons have visited New York, most through the auspices of the Foreign Office.
