'Wholesome' Megan quizzed

Megan Ambuhl studied biology at university before enlisting in the US Army after the September 11 atrocity.

The 29-year-old reservist from Maryland, now under investigation for potential abuse of Iraqi prisoners, was "enthusiastic and adventurous," says college professor Richard Koesterer.

Others who know her says the former lab technician is "wholesome" and would not take advantage of those around her.

Her family - too shocked to comment - will say only that Ms Ambuhl is "doing okay considering the circumstances".

Ms Ambuhl serves in the 372nd Military Police - the same unit as Lynndie England, the 21-year-old in some of the most shocking photographs of Iraqis being humiliated.

Harvey Volzer, her civilian attorney, described Ms Ambuhl as a "very clean and wholesome girl".
