U2 to front US Super Bowl

Ireland's U2 have been chosen to play at America's football final, the Super Bowl. Bono and the band will lead the half-time show at Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans on 3 February.

"We were looking for a band that would help capture and lift the spirit of America and the world," said spokesman Brian McCarthy. "With U2 we found what we were looking for."

The Super Bowl was pushed back to February after the 11 September attacks forced the NFL to suspend its season for a week.
