These are the dramatic moments when two robbers snatched a cash box from a security guard at an Underground station.

British Transport Police released CCTV images of the raid and appealed for information to help identify the men.

One of the robbers was armed with a hammer which he used to smash the 43-year-old security guard's hand as he grabbed the box.

The two men are thought to have escaped with about £20,000 in the raid at Northfields Tube station in Ealing on Tuesday.

The men struck at about 9.30am as the guard was entering the station to deliver money to a cash dispensing machine.

They fled the scene in a stolen silver Toyota Yaris which was later found dumped a few hundred yards away in Airedale Road.

The empty cash box was inside.

Detective Sergeant Fin Egan, who is investigating the robbery, said: "This was a violent attack on the security guard.

"It is likely these two dangerous men would have been covered in pink dye after opening the cash box.

"I am appealing for anyone who has any information about the robbery or the stolen vehicle to get in contact."

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
