Tributes paid to selfless HIV activist

Emma Rowley12 April 2012

An HIV awareness activist who shouted his disease "from the rooftops" in an attempt to end ignorance has died.

Clint Walters was 17 when he was diagnosed with HIV and spent the rest of his life helping young people with the condition. He died at home in Clapham on Sunday, aged 31, after suffering a heart attack.

His friend Neil Parrett paid tribute to the campaigner's "incredible energy" and "completely selfless" nature while living with HIV.

"Rather than let it beat him, he focused on life and tried to make it better for other people in the same situation," he said.

"He took calls from young people all over the country and people came to stay with him if they were struggling to come to terms with the diagnosis."
