Tribute to quad-bike victim

The family of a backpacker killed in New Zealand told today how their daughter had been "having the time of her life".

Sarah Bond, 23, from Ilford, died during a quad-biking tour to the Waitomo Caves on the north island on Saturday. She appears to have lost control of her bike and crashed down a steep bank.

She had worked for Barclays Bank in Stratford and in a pub to save money for a 10-month trip to New Zealand and Australia-Her father Jack, 55, said: "The trip was going extremely well and she was having the time of her life, enjoying every moment. Sarah was such a great girl."

Her mother Elizabeth, 51, said: "We are trying to deal with our loss. Everyone has been really supportive." Sarah had two sisters, Caroline, 25, and Alexandria, 18.

Police are investigating the death.
