Tourists stranded in Nepal by Himalaya fog

About 150 trekkers have been stranded at a Himalayan airport near Mount Everest by heavy fog for seven days.

Charter flights have been unable to reaching the Tenzing-Hillary airstrip at Lukla airport, which is at an altitude of 9,200 feet.

Eighty tourists escaped by walking to a village and taking a helicopter to Katmandu for $750 each.

Flights were expected to start landing today as the weather lifts.
