Thugs who knifed boys for staring at them are jailed

12 April 2012

A pair of knife-wielding thugs who attacked two teenagers after an argument on a train have been jailed.

Ronnie Haydon and Karim Mouzoun, both 19, flew into a rage after they accused the boys, both 17 at the time, of staring at them.

Haydon stabbed one in the thigh, causing a 4.5cm gash that needed emergency treatment.

The pair were identified later through CCTV footage. Haydon, of Waltham Cross, was jailed for six years yesterday after a trial at St Albans crown court. He had denied wounding with intent. He must also serve three years on licence after his custodial sentence.

Mouzoun, from Holloway, was jailed for 30 months after changing his plea to guilty to wounding without intent.

Dc Paul Cudby said: "This was a violent onslaught that stemmed from little more than an argument about eye contact on a train.

"Rather than walk away from the disagreement, they made a conscious decision to use a knife to cause bodily harm to someone they deemed had caused them offence.

"It was an outrageous and thuggish reaction to have had."

The argument broke out as the train travelled between Tottenham Hale and Waltham Cross in January last year.

The two victims got off at Waltham Cross, followed by Haydon and Mouzoun, and the argument continued with the pair threatening to "bore" (stab) the boys.

Mouzoun then took a lock-knife from the rolled-up top of his trousers and passed it to Haydon who stabbed one victim in his left leg.
