Three arrested over hospital blackmail

Three people in charge of providing cleaners and caterers to a major London hospital have been arrested.

Police acted after a tip-off from Kingston hospital and the Kingston Race and Equalities Council. The three staff, two men and a woman, work for ISS Mediclean. They were arrested for alleged blackmail offences.

Chris Smith, spokesman for ISS, said the company regularly checks whether its staff can legally work in the UK. He said: "ISS Mediclean has robust procedures for the correct engagement of employees."
