Telemarketers facing fines

THE US Federal Communications Commission will enforce a ban on telemarketing calls to people listed on a national 'do-not-call' list, despite a court ruling putting the measure in doubt.

It will fine telemarketers who call any of the 50m numbers on the list. 'The consumer voice has been heard,' said Linda Golodner of the National Consumers League.
