Sudan minister is shot dead by driver

A minister of South Sudan was shot dead in the capital Juba today, two days after referendum results confirmed the region will become the world's newest country.

"The minister for rural development and co-operation has been killed by a driver working at the mministry," an army spokesman said.

South Sudan will achieve full independence on July 9.
