Students to get an ology in street dance

12 April 2012

Street dance is now so popular a teaching qualification has been created for young women.

More than 50,000 youngsters in London take lessons in street dancing lessons, which has seen a surge in interest since the success of groups such as Diversity on Britain's Got Talent.

Dave Welch, who runs the Karizma dance school in Essex, said: "Kids love street dance because they are dancing to music they hear on the radio."

However, he added: "But I don't think you can teach the talent you get in groups like Diversity, street dance is about spontaneity and creativity."

The United Dance Organisation is running the course which begins next month. It costs £100 and involves 98 hours of online training.
