Studabaker faces charges in US
Greater Manchester Police released details today of the charges faced by Toby Studabaker in the US.
A US federal grand jury returned a four count indictment against Studabaker last December. The charges alleged that he:
- Transported a child across international borders for the purpose of sexually exploiting that child;
- Travelled across international borders with the intent to sexually exploit a child;
- Sexually exploited a child in a foreign country;
The indictment alleged that Studabaker "communicated regularly through the Internet by e-mail, instant messaging and text messaging through cellular telephones.
"At times, Mr Studabaker had sexually explicit communications with the child.
"On July 7, 2003, Mr Studabaker went to a travel agency in Three Rivers, Michigan, and made travel arrangements for himself and the child.
"He purchased airline tickets for himself to England. He purchased airline tickets for himself and the girl to travel to France.
"On July 11, 2003, Mr Studabaker began his trip from Michigan to Europe. He arrived in England on July 12, 2003, and met the 12-year-old girl. They then travelled together to Paris, France. Once in France, Mr Studabaker sexually assaulted the 12-year-old girl."
