Spiderman rapist given five life terms

Spiderman rapist David Smith was jailed for five life sentences at the Old Bailey for a terrifying campaign of sex attacks on women, including a pregnant City bank adminstrator.

Judge Christopher Moss said Smith, 26, was "a repeated and dangerous sexual predator and will remain for the foreseeable future a grave danger to women". The judge described him as "a classic case where life imprisonment is called for". Smith, who had a web tattoo on his neck, threatened a 16-year-old college student with a gun saying, "you are in my web now, you can't escape".

He lured three of his young victims, two aged 16 and one 17, to deserted locations, including a graveyard, and detectives believe "there may be others".

Smith, from Harlesden, also broke into the home of the 23-yearold adminstrator to rape her in January last year in revenge for a £200 gambling debt her husband had failed to pay.

She told the court how she had come home early from work to Manor Park because of morning sickness to be bound, gagged and raped by Smith and accomplice Dwayne Browne. Browne, 25, is now serving 12 years.
